Personalized teaching, practical teaching, effective teaching

The Degree in Primary Education trains qualified professionals to comprehensively educate children from six to twelve years of age, that is to say, throughout the primary education years. This period is based on the essential foundations of equality in education as well as special needs, so that all children have equal access to quality education. It is essential to achieve the acquisition of key pedagogical competences, including the ability to detect and treat learning difficulties, to encourage tutoring when needed; to be able to orientate students in their education and to be able to integrate families into the educational process.

Primary education is arranged in six year-long courses and organized into areas with a global and integrative nature, although it places emphasis on those that are more instrumental. It must be coordinated with early childhood education and compulsory secondary education to allow students an adequate transition from, and continuity to, the other stages of their educational process.

The purpose of this educational period, according to the Spanish Royal Decree 1513/2006 (December 7), and in conjunction with the development of the Spanish Organic Law of Education, establishes that the minimum standard for primary education, is "to provide all children an education that allows them to strengthen their personal development and their own well-being, acquire basic cultural skills related to oral expression and comprehension, reading, writing and calculation, to develop social skills, work habits and study skills, an artistic sensibility, as well as creativity and affection. "

The Degree in Primary Education: What can you specialize in?

In addition, in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, this specialization permits teachers to act as an athletic trainer (for physical conditioning, recreational physical activity, or physical activity of a training nature), as specified in article 9 of Law 15 / 2015, April 16, which oversees the professional areas for athletic professions in Extremadura.

Specialization in Catholic Theology and its Teaching: allows students to obtain the DECA certificate (the Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence), issued by the Spanish Episcopal Conference, which confers the academic certification necessary to be a professor of the Catholic religion in public, private and semi-private schools, in both pre-school and primary education.
